Some recent positive signs for home buyers and sellers:
- Homes today spend a median time of three weeks on the market, far shorter than the median of 11 weeks five years ago, according to new data from the National Association of Realtors.
- According to the National Association of Realtors, the Pending Home Sales Index rose 3.5 percent in October and now stands at the highest reading since June.
- Sales of new homes rose 6.2 percent in October, according to the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
- Privately owned housing starts increased 3.3 percent in November, according to the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
