Considering a move to Basking Ridge?  Here’s why you should do it!!

I asked my past customers to finish this sentence:

“I chose to live in Basking Ridge because: ______”

…..of the location.  When we first moved here, I was working in New York City and my husband was working outside of Princeton.  Basking Ridge offered the train to NYC and was a great midpoint between both places.  We looked at many neighboring towns on the train lines (Westfield, Scotch Plains, Summit) and what we liked most about Basking Ridge was the yard size.  It was hard to get as much land in those other towns.  Another huge draw was the highly ranked school system Basking Ridge offers.  Our oldest will be going to Kindergarten next year and we are excited to take advantage of Basking Ridge’s education system.

…..diversified community with like minded homeowners,  close proximity to everywhere, and neat environment

I honestly don’t know why we chose to live here other than we liked the location – in a nice Basking Ridge neighborhood that wasn’t too close to a highway, wasn’t too busy traffic wise, near woods, and it was the right price!  We like the lot sizes too- all are about an acre.

I chose to live in our neighborhood because of the rural feel of the area and the larger properties of all the homes in the area.  When we first moved into our home by Mountain Park, there was a horse stable and an apple orchard just down the road (note from Jen: the apple orchard is still there, my daughter and I were there this fall!).

I also asked them to comment on the following:

“After living here for (however long), what I love most about my neighborhood is: ____”

We love the people.  Our neighbors vary in age but each and every one of them is as nice as can be.  When we first moved in, 7 1/2 years ago, one of our neighbors and her daughter came by with brownies and welcomed us to the neighborhood.  Everyone was so warm and welcoming and we knew we had made the right decision to live here.  We are pretty sure it’s the best town in all of New Jersey!

What I love most about my neighborhood now is that it is within walking distance to the middle school (big plus as I have a 6th grader this year!), it is a nice neighborhood with a lot of nice people, and pretty woods.  There are a lot of kids and it is one mile from both 78 and 287- I like that it isn’t too close to the highway but not too far either.  I love that the brook runs though the neighborhood as it has supplied endless hours of entertainment for the kids – catching frogs, wading, throwing rocks, feeding fish, finding crawfish, etc.  It is so fun!

After living here for almost 20 years, what I love most about our area is the continued country feel of this region of bernards township, despite the increased development of homes.

After 11 years, I live my neighbors and despite the very large town, the sense of community is that if a small town

My Friends ….   We often get together on Friday afternoons, to unwind/reflect/discuss current events with kids/family/world.   Basking Ridge is really a special community   I know you were asking about my neighborhood, inparticular, but I would say that the town of Basking Ridge is really special.   So many fun, special events that enable a sense of community.   The Halloween trick or treating, the tree lighting ceremony, Christmas Eve caroling, etc…
