Last week I took part in a research capstone project with Temple University’s Fox School of Business. The team is working with a New York based global private equity firm dedicated exclusively to financial services and real estate and is researching the residential rental market to identify uniquely successful property management companies.
I was happy to be considered for the study – as many of you know, I am the Owner of Somerset Hills Property Management. I take great pride in the work that I do and the value I can add to homeowners and the Realtors that serve them. And I must say that it took me back to my MBA days and it felt good to help out some current students!
I answered their questions about the services I provide and the challenges and trends I see in the business – finding new customers and getting them to understand the benefits of hiring a property manager is my biggest challenge. We ended the call with them telling me that of the small businesses with which they researched, my branding and level of professionalism were on par with the “big” companies. I work hard at this, so it was great to hear!
