It’s almost mid-month; you can tell I’ve been busy as I haven’t updated the blog in ages! Thank you for coming back again and again despite that. The holiday season tends to be a slow one in real estate – but our Weichert office in Basking Ridge has reported EIGHT sales this month already – that is 200% over where we were this time this month last year! I believe that the threat of interest rates rising has brought some buyers out and about.

I like to see that many of these sale prices are relatively close to the list price. As the season slows down, the serious sellers adjust their prices which typically brings sales. The sellers who are less motivated tend to take their homes off the market for the holidays. I don’t think this is the best strategy – especially if you want to sell your home. Because, if it’s not on the market it certainly isn’t going to sell! And when you put it back on the market “in the spring” – you will have much more competition than you do now because…well, everyone waits for spring!
