This year, Weichert, Realtors successfully raised $172,000 during its 17th Annual Charity Outing to benefit the American Cancer Society (ACS) and breast cancer research. Proceeds from the event exceeded all previous years’ donations and bring the grand total that Weichert has raised for the ACS and breast cancer research to an impressive $1.212 million since the annual fundraiser began in 2001.

Some recent positive signs for homebuyers and sellers:
• According to Fannie Mae’s latest Home Purchase Sentiment Index, the number of consumers who say now is a good time to sell a home neared an all-time high, jumping 21 percentage points year over year.
• Building permits for privately owned housing units rose 5.7 percent in August and are 8.3 percent above the August 2016 rate.
• According to the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Indices, which cover all nine U.S. census divisions, home prices rose 5.8 percent in June.
• Fannie Mae is changing the requirement that borrowers pay a higher down payment to qualify for an adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM), and will also require less equity in order for borrowers to refinance into an ARM.
